Thurrock Primary Mathletics Competition 2023
Today, young mathematicians came together to compete in the Thurrock Primary Mathletics Competition. The competition is hosted by The Gateway Learning Community and run in partnership with the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock.
The competition provides a challenging, engaging mathematical experience that is both competitive and educational. It is open to all primary schools across Thurrock, who are invited to submit a Year 5 team of four pupils to participate in the event.
This year 20 schools took part from across the borough, listed below;
Arthur Bugler Primary School, Aveley Primary School, Belmont Castle Academy, Benyon Primary School, Bulphan C of E Primary, Chadwell-St-Mary Primary School, Corringham Primary Academy, Deneholme Primary School, Gateway Primary Free School, Giffards Primary School, Herringham Primary Academy, Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, Horndon on the Hill C of E Primary School, Lansdowne Primary Academy, Little Thurrock Primary School, Somers Heath Primary School, Tilbury Pioneer Academy, Tudor Court Primary School, West Thurrock Academy, Woodside Academy.
The pupils worked extremely hard and were a credit to their schools. All pupils were awarded a certificate for taking part in the competition. The trophies were awarded to the winning team and runners up:
Winners: Tudor Court Primary School
Second Place: West Thurrock Academy
Third Place: Corringham Primary Academy
‘It was fantastic to see primary maths geniuses at work, problem-solving and working together in their teams.
