World Mental Health Day

Across The GLC the children took part in different activities to mark ‘World Mental Health Day’

GA well-being ambassadors put on a lovely tea and talk coffee morning for staff and students in the library to raise money for the charity mind.  The well-being dinosaur made an appearance and people were able to buy cakes, accessories and get their hair sprayed green for the day. Well-being ambassadors were on hand to talk to both staff and students about their role and get support if they needed it.

GPFS: The children were invited to wear a yellow accessory.

HPA: ‘Teachers are always checking in and asking if we are okay. Also, they try to cheer us up when we’re sad and give us time to calm down if we need 5 minutes. They help us to know where and who we can go to if we are worried about something. During school, we have mindfulness everyday to teach us skills to calm ourselves down or relax. We draw, read, do breathing activities and sometimes we just talk about what has been happening.’ – Zoeya, HPA

TPA: Tannoy announcement were made throughout the day and the children enjoyed additional games on the playground with senior leaders and inclusion lead.

LPA: Wellbeing Ambassadors played uplifting music and messages throughout the day. A special assembly was delivered by partner agency The Mental Health Practitioner team alongside student leaders.
